The Sewing Room
Getting Started
Here you will find two additional chapters which we just couldn't squeeze into the book but we thought were absolutely necessary for your sewing journey.
Contents

Fabrics
There are so many fabrics that can be used to make your dressmaking projects. Natural fibres, manmade and mixtures of both – they all have different properties, advantages & disadvantages.
It is always better to buy fabric from a shop or at a show where you can feel the fabric but that is not always possible. When ordering fabrics on line I would always recommend getting samples.
In this chapter I run through some of the fabrics I use and recommend, others are available, but I hope this will give a good overview.
In the book there is also a section on interfacing to stabilise and underlining which explains how to combine fabrics to change & improve their properties – this is a great technique and will open up a whole new way of thinking about fabric.
