The Sewing Room
Resources
If you would like to learn more from me, why not join me on a course at my
Sewing Room in Midhurst – you can find details of all the workshops
by clicking here.
I run single or multi-day workshops that can be on a specific garment such as
trousers or a jacket, or there are Sewing Schools and Evening Classes
where you bring along a project of your choice.
I also run half-day workshops on techniques, including many of the ones covered in this
book, and each year there is a foundation course called The Dressmaker’s Portfolio.
This runs over six months and includes workshop days, regular tutorials and museum trips.
At the end of the course, we hold an open day where students exhibit everything they have created.
It’s a great way to spend a few months concentrating on dressmaking skills and producing a handmade wardrobe.
Midhurst is a lovely place to visit and there are lots of places to stay if you are coming for a few days.
Or you could join us on one of our Sewing Retreats – we run several in the UK.
We also go to New York each year: I take a group on a tour of the Garment District
and visit my favourite fabric and trimmings shops,
then we return on the Queen Mary 2 cruise liner where I set up a sewing room on board
so the group can sew all the way home.
You can find all the details by clicking here.

I know that not everyone can make it to Midhurst or join a retreat,
so you can also learn from me on
my YouTube channel or with my online membership by clicking here.
The membership includes a video library of techniques and garments.
There is a regular zoom hangout for members that I join once a month for a catch-up.
There are monthly live Q&A sessions where you can ask questions, and I will demonstrate any
techniques that are requested – these sessions are recorded so if you can’t make it live you can catch up.
I also run regular live Sewalongs: I choose a garment and you can sew along with me live, or just watch and make the garment using the recording.

All haberdashery used in the book is available from my website www.claire-tyler.com
Fabrics used to make samples were from www.bloomsburysquarefabrics.com
The steam generator iron I recommend is Phillips Perfectcare Aqua and is available directly
from Phillips or from places such as John Lewis or Amazon.
The sewing machine I use is a Janome M100QDC; this model comes with many of the feet that I use.
A good resource for machine feet for all brands is Jaycotts.com

Thank you for buying my book – I hope you enjoy it and that it helps to inspire you to be creative.
